What is JSON Tree Viewer?
Paste any JSON and explore it as a collapsible tree. Each key, value, and array element is a node you can click to expand or copy.
The viewer shows the JSON Pointer path of every value (for example /users/0/name) and a one-line summary of the node. Click a primitive to copy its value; click a container to toggle its children. Useful for understanding API responses, debugging large config files, and finding the right path to copy into a script.
How to use it
-
Paste your JSON
Drop a file or paste text into the editor on the left.
-
Explore the tree
Click any node to expand or collapse its children. Use Expand all / Collapse all for big trees.
-
Copy values or paths
Click a primitive value to copy it. The path (for example /data/users/2/email) is shown next to each node and is one click to copy.
Examples
API response navigation
Most API responses are deeply nested. The tree view lets you collapse everything except the section you are looking at, then drill in.
{ "data": { "users": [ { "id": 1, "name": "alice" }, { "id": 2, "name": "bob" } ] } } Result: A collapsible tree where /data/users/0/name resolves to "alice".
Config file debugging
Long package.json, tsconfig.json, or .eslintrc files are easier to read as a tree than as flat text.
{ "name": "app", "scripts": { "build": "vite build", "test": "vitest" } } Result: Each script is a clickable leaf; click to copy the script name.

JSON files get long fast. A 5,000-line config file or a 50 KB API response is unreadable as raw text. This guide covers the right way to navigate a JSON document: tree views, search, path navigation, and the moves that turn a wall of text into something you can actually work with.
